Alexandre Jr. injured, Sullivan now faces UFC newcomer and TUF 16 alumni Dominic Waters

Published

With Marcio Alexandre Jr. forced to pull out of his bout at TUF 21 Finale against George Sullivan, Sullivan now faces TUF 16 alumni and UFC newcomer Dominic Waters.

This Welterweight matchup will feature on the TUF 21 Finale card which takes place on July 12th.

Dominic “Show Nuff” Waters (9-2) featured on TUF 16 being Roy Nelson’s very first pick. However, he failed to live up to the expectations which followed, losing in the Quarter Final round then failing to obtain a fight on the finale card. Since then he has had 5 fights, winning 4 of those with his loss coming against current Bellator fighter Curtis Millender. Now finally making the UFC, he has another crack at the breaking into the welterweight division with his debut next week.

Currently on a 3 fight win streak leading to this fight, with wins under WSOF and RFA, he enters the fight with some confidence behind him. Waters, a very well rounded fighter, is more prone to decision victories with 4 of his 9 wins coming from going the distance. This has also been his downfall too having both losses come from a decision. Therefore, we may see him look for a big knockout or submission and get a big W on his record as well as putting the division on notice of his presence.

George Sullivan (16-4) has got quite a lot of experience behind him in his 20 pro bout, becoming the Cage Fury Fighting Championships welterweight champion in the mixed. He also has 3 fights in the UFC to date, winning his first 2, then falling short in his last fight to Tim Means. Now he looks to bounce back to winning ways in this fight. Sullivan is well-known for finishing his opponents by way of KO/TKO with a phenomenal 11 wins coming from a KO/TKO so far in his career.

This fight has the potential to be quite an exciting fight with some hard shots in it as well as to guys looking to have a big impact on their division.

The bout order of the night is yet to be finalized. Although, the following bouts are booked:
Jake Ellenberger vs. Stephen Thompson
TBA vs. TBA – “TUF 21″ welterweight tournament final
Cezar Ferreira vs. Jorge Masvidal
Angela Magana vs. Michelle Waterson
Russell Doane vs. Jerrod Sanders
Willie Gates vs. Darrell Montague
Caio Magalhaes vs. Josh Samman
Dan Miller vs. Trevor Smith
Maximo Blanco vs. Mike De La Torre
Nikita Krylov vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
George Sullivan vs. Dominic Waters
