Fields set to fight for the title as BAMMA return to Ireland for BAMMA 26

Published

on

Earlier today BAMMA announced their return to Ireland for BAMMA 26: Craig vs. Fields at the 3arena, Dublin. This is BAMMA’s 3rd time coming to Ireland and if their past two events are anything to go by, we are in for a treat. The announcement of this card comes with a very exciting match up also in Paul Craig vs. Chris Fields for the BAMMA Light Heavyweight Championship as the headliner. Tickets went on presale today and will go on general sale on Monday the 11th of April.

Paul “Bearjew” Craig vs. Chris “The Housewives Choice” Fields

Scotsman Paul Craig is undefeated in his MMA career to date picking up 8 wins since 2013. Ever since signing with BAMMA Paul has been on a wrecking train of the Light Heavyweight division taking out anyone they have put in his path, handing Karl Moore his first career loss back at BAMMA 22 followed by picking up the title at BAMMA 23 against Marcin Lazarz. Paul has not failed to impress in his fight career so far finishing every single fight, proving to be a threat on the ground in particular with 7 of them wins by submission and 1 via TKO. Now, ”Bearjew” has yet another tough task ahead of him when he takes on Chris Fields in his own backyard.

Fighting out of the infamous SBG, Chris Fields is looking to add to his recent win by picking himself up a title. Fields only made his Light Heavyweight debut back at BAMMA 24, looking impressive in his submission victory over Dan Konecke in front of the loud Dublin crowd. With that win ending his winless streak of fights, he will now be aiming to have a repeat of that performance at BAMMA 26 to come out the champion. In Fields’ career so far he, similar to his opponent, has proven to be quite the exciting fighter with none of his fights going the distance although has mixed his victories up more (6 TKO, 5 Sub).

This is certainly a great match-up to have to headline the card and one to look forward to for sure. Along with that match up then, Fields’ SBG teammate James Gallagher will take on Sean Tobin. The fight was announced exclusively by Ariel Helwani.

Gallagher has only recently signed with Bellator so this may be the last chance Irish fans get to see him fight in Dublin for quite some time. Therefore, he will be most definitely looking to go out with a bang at BAMMA 26 and add to his undefeated record of 3-0 by defeating Sean Tobin. Fighting out of Trials MMA, Sean Tobin is looking to keep his recent form going against Gallagher. Tobin earned himself a hard fought win at BAMMA 24 when he submitted Gary Morris in the second round. This fight is yet another great addition and is certainly going to be one to watch on the card.

Ovince Saint Preux Steps in to Face Corey Anderson at UFC 217

Published

on

UFC 217 just got even more interesting. Earlier this week, Patrick Cummins pulled out of his light heavyweight matchup with Corey Anderson due to a Staph infection. Corey “Overtime” Anderson was not happy with his opponents decision, even calling out his opponent on Instagram asking how Cummins could, “call it quits so far from fight night”.

The UFC left Anderson on the card, and he found an opponent through the magic of Twitter. Ovince Saint Preux tweeted out directly to Anderson stating:

It didn’t take long for Anderson to respond agreeing to the fight, tagging Mick Maynard and Dana White in his response.

Only a few short hours later, the fight announcement came from the official UFC twitter account.

This top 10 Light Heavyweight matchup should add to an already amazing card coming in November at Madison Square Garden. Saint Preux is coming off of back to back wins both due to the very rare von flue choke, he finds himself ranked #7th in the latest edition of the 205-pound rankings. Corey “Overtime” Anderson is 4-2 in his last 6 fights, but is coming off a brutal first round knockout loss to Jimi Manuwa in March.

With such a exciting fight added to this card, what do you see happening November 4th?  Will Corey Anderson bounce back and look to jump into the top 5 of the rankings, or will Ovince Saint Preux go for a third straight von flue choke? Let us know.
