Fight Removed from UFC Hamburg Card

Published

on

UFC Hamburg has suffered another blow to their fight card just days away from the event.

Having signed with the promotion only a week ago, former Cage Warriors champ Alex Enlund is unable to compete against fellow newcomer Martin Buschkamp. Enlund stated on Twitter; “I’m heartbroken to find out I will no longer fight in Hamburg as I require further medical clearance.” The UFC have stated that Buschkamp will get a new bout at a later date, suggesting that the event will proceed with just eleven match ups.

While the main card has remained in tact, the UFC’s first trip to Hamburg has now suffered seven revisions leading up to the event. Including three scrapped bouts, the card sees five fighters make their promotional debut on the night.

A strawweight bout between Aisling Daly and Michelle Waterson had to be cancelled after both opponents suffered injuries in their training camp. While Daly was the first to reveal that she would be unable to fight, soon after Waterson posted an x-ray displaying a break in her hand, forcing the UFC to scrap the long-awaited return of the ‘Karate Hottie’.

Another female bout on the card was to suffer a blow after Germaine de Randamie disclosed a foot injury in the lead up to her fight with Ashlee Evans Smith. Unbeaten newcomer Veronica Macedo has stepped up to face Smith in what will be her second fight on German soil.

Originally scheduled to meet ‘Henry’ Briones, Brad Pickett found himself matched up with Iuri Alcantara after the aforementioned Briones had to withdraw due to an injury. In a turn of fate, Pickett too suffered an injury during his training camp and will now meet Alcantara at UFC 204, despite revealing he currently has a fracture in his spine.

Other bouts to feature a change of opponent include the lightweight match up between Rustam Khabilov and Reza Madadi, Brazilian; Leandro Silva stepping up to replace Madadi. Finally the debut of Emil Weber Meek will have to wait after the Norwegian made the USADA aware of a treatment that was potentially out of compliance with the UFC’s anti doping policy. In his place another UFC debutant, Jim Wallhead will face Jessin Ayari at 170lbs on September 3rd.

The full card currently stands as follows:

Bellator 185- How to Watch, Times and Fight Card

Published

on

Bellator is once again heading to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville Connecticut, and this time they are bringing with them one of the most anticipated former UFC fighter turned Bellator stars’ debut. Gegard Mousasi will be making his first appearance in the Bellator cage against a former Bellator champion in Alexander Shlemenko. Although this event has lost some of its star power over the last several weeks, it is still stacked and you can bet that the main event will bring some fireworks.

Earlier in the month, it was announced that King Mo had suffered an injury that had forced him out of his co-main event fight with former middleweight champion Liam McGeary. Bellator worked quickly to secure a replacement opponent for McGeary in Bubba McDaniels. Unfortunately for McDaniels and the fans alike, McGeary had later suffered an injury of his own and the fight was removed from the card.

This left a spot open in the co-main event slot, which would be filled by a welterweight matchup between Brennan Ward and David Rickels. Just four days out from the fight, Bellator announced that Ward had also become injured and the fight has been removed from the card as well. The main card has been shuffled around and the welterweight bout between Neiman Gracie and Zak Bucia will now serve as the co-main event.
