*LIVE UPDATES* UFC Fight Night 109 Official Results

Matthew Wells

Live from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden is UFC Fight Night 109: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira.

The 12-bout fight card broadcasts early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, along with televised prelims and the main card airing live on FOX Sports 1. The main event of the evening is to determine who will be next in line for a shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with number-one contender Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson having the support of his hometown fans in Stockholm as he takes on second-ranked Glover Teixeira.

Gustafsson has been dealing with his share of injuries in recent years, keeping him out of action more than he would like. His last walk to the Octagon was against Jan Blachowicz in September at UFC Fight Night 93, a fight the Swede won via Unanimous Decision. Prior to that bout, Gustafsson hit a two-fight losing skid against the now-retired Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and the current Light Heavyweight Champ Daniel Cormier in an epic battle for the strap at UFC 192 in Houston, Texas. “The Mauler” has been in the trenches against the best of the division, taking former champ Jon Jones to the brink in an all-time classic. With a win over Teixeira in his hometown on Sunday, Gustafsson will find himself in a position to challenge for the gold once more.

Teixeira and Gustafsson were scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night 69 in 2015, however, due to a back injury to Gustafsson, the fight never came to fruition.

On Sunday, Teixeira will look to continue his destruction of the light heavyweight contenders and earn himself another shot at the title. 2015 was a great year for the Brazilian as he took out Ovince St. Preux via submission and recorded a second-round TKO victory over Patrick Cummins. Teixeira would follow up that performance with a first-round finish of Rashad Evans at UFC on FOX 19. On one of the biggest cards of 2016, Teixeira would fall victim to a vicious uppercut from Anthony Johnson in seconds. He rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Jared Cannonier at UFC 208 in Brooklyn, setting up this number-one contender bout against Gustafsson.

Old-school weigh-ins took place for this event due to Swedish law that limits the amount of time between weigh-ins and competition. Darren Till was the only fighter to miss his mark, weighing in at 176 pounds and will forfeit 20% of his purse as a result.
