UFC Fight Night Rotterdam Fight To Watch

Griffin Tobey

This weekend in the Netherlands there is a heavyweight heavy card with quite a few Europeans going to war in the cage. In the Main Event, Alistair Overeem takes on Andrei Arlovski in a matchup between two top 5 heavyweights and in the Co-Main Antonio Silva will fight Stefan Struve. These will for sure be some exciting fights in the heavyweight division. Overall, throughout the card, there are quite a few very intriguing fights which make for a very solid card.

FIGHT TO WATCH: Rustam Khabilov vs. Chris Wade

The marquis fight of the preliminary card is a lightweight battle between Rustam “Tiger” Khabilov and Chris Wade. Wade is 4-0 in the UFC and is looking to continue to take wins at the hands of other lightweights in the UFC’s toughest division. His opponent, Khabilov, is 3-2 in the UFC and is looking to start another win streak, having won his last fight. This is a very interesting fight between two up and comers in the lightweight division.

HONORABLE MENTION 1: Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Heather Jo Clark

Kicking off the main card is a strawweight bout between two very talented fighters. The undefeated Kowalkiewicz is looking to follow up her first UFC win with another one. Kowalkiewicz is fighting in Europe and is sure to have the fans behind her as she takes on the American Clark. Heather Clark hasn’t fought since December of 2014 and is sure to be eager to get back into the cage. The UFC didn’t do her any favors, however, and matched her up against Kowalkiewicz, which is very possibly the toughest matchup of her career. This will be a very exciting fight in the Straw Weight division between two women on the rise in that division.

HONORABLE MENTION 2: Yan Cabral vs. Reza Madadi

The first fight on the preliminary card is a very interesting one in the lightweight division between Yan Cabral and Reza “Mad Dog” Madadi. It’s Brazil vs. Iran as both men look to do their countries proud in the cage. Both men are coming off of a loss, with Cabral losing a razor thin split decision to Johnny Case and Madadi losing to Norman Parke. Madadi was gone for more than 2 years prior to that fight and claims that “ring rust” was one of the factors in that loss, and is looking to prove he is more than what that loss defines him as.
