UFC Orlando Weigh in Results

The final UFC card of 2015 is nigh as the Octagon lands in Orlando, Florida for UFC on Fox 17. The card promises to end what has been a great year for the organisation with a bang and is headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Rafael dos Anjos and popular challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The fighters today completed the customary weigh ins.

Back at UFC 185, dos Anjos shocked the world when he defeated Anthony Pettis to claim the lightweight strap and can boast a win over Saturday’s opponent on his record. Since that fight, Cerrone has been on a tear through the division, winning 8 in a row to earn his shot at the title. After the events from UFC 194 last weekend, it is possible that whoever wins this fight will next square up opposite Conor McGregor, should “The Notorious” choose to move up to the 155 pound division.

The evening’s co-main event also has title implications. At heavyweight, former UFC champion Junior dos Santos faces former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem, with the winner likely earning the chance to face the winner of the upcoming title rematch between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez. Both men are renowned knock out artists, so few fans will be anticipating this fight going the distance.

There are two more fights on the main card. First, TUF 20 veteran Randa Markos returns to take on Polish UFC debutant Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the strawweight division. Another TUF veteran, this time of series 12, fights when Michael Johnson looks to bounce back from a contentious split decision loss to Beneil Dariush when he steps into the octagon opposite one of the most polarising figures in the division – Nate Diaz. Diaz has had a tough time of it recently, losing 3 out of his last 4. A win to end 2015 would be the perfect remedy for both men.

The preliminary card is certainly one of the strongest of the year too, with excitement all but guaranteed on both the Fight Pass and Fox Sports 1 portions of the card. Fighters such as TUF 21 winner Kamaru Usman, Cole Miller, Josh Samman (who fights the returning Tamdan McCrory), Sarah Kaufman, Nate Marquardt and Myles Jury are just some of the fighters in action. From top to bottom, this year ending UFC card is one not to be missed.

A number of fighters questioned the scales’ accuracy after failed weigh in attempts, most notably Danny Castillo and Charles Oliveira, who both missed weight and will need to return to avoid losing a percentage of their salary.

The full weigh in results are as follows:

Bellator 185- How to Watch, Times and Fight Card

Bellator is once again heading to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville Connecticut, and this time they are bringing with them one of the most anticipated former UFC fighter turned Bellator stars’ debut. Gegard Mousasi will be making his first appearance in the Bellator cage against a former Bellator champion in Alexander Shlemenko. Although this event has lost some of its star power over the last several weeks, it is still stacked and you can bet that the main event will bring some fireworks.

Earlier in the month, it was announced that King Mo had suffered an injury that had forced him out of his co-main event fight with former middleweight champion Liam McGeary. Bellator worked quickly to secure a replacement opponent for McGeary in Bubba McDaniels. Unfortunately for McDaniels and the fans alike, McGeary had later suffered an injury of his own and the fight was removed from the card.

This left a spot open in the co-main event slot, which would be filled by a welterweight matchup between Brennan Ward and David Rickels. Just four days out from the fight, Bellator announced that Ward had also become injured and the fight has been removed from the card as well. The main card has been shuffled around and the welterweight bout between Neiman Gracie and Zak Bucia will now serve as the co-main event.
